Verbal level one risk assessments are commonly given free of charge during estimates and consultations. More extensive level two and level three risk assessments are available with consultations if more information is needed for you to make a critical decision about your tree(s). Sometimes trees with defects can be made safer with tree support systems. These consist mostly of two varieties, one being large machine bolts to hold together weak branch unions, and the other being steel cable holding two or more stems of the tree together.

Cabling a tree is a commitment, with inspections, maintenance and eventual replacement over the years. Therefore, this service is reserved for customers who feel the benefits from their tree are worth the commitment and investment.

If you do have a tree that is special to you, Primate Tree Care can inspect the tree and determine if a tree support system is justified and whether it would significantly reduce risk or not. This is usually done with trees that have visible defects such as weak or splitting unions/trunks.

Historic trees, exceptional specimens, memorial trees and the favorite trees of many homeowners have had their risk levels lowered to tolerable levels, and kept for decades longer than they would have been, with the use of cables and bolts.
